What this site is

resideact.org is an independent, public-interest screening tool. You are welcome to use it, quote it and build on it — on the understanding set out below.

Not an official source

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Congress, the City of San José, or any other government body. Its name refers to the legislation it analyses.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is legal, financial, engineering, investment or tax advice. The analysis is a screen of public data, not a feasibility study. A high score means a building is worth a professional feasibility study — never that it is convertible. Do not make acquisition, lending or grant-application decisions on this analysis alone.

Accuracy and warranty

Figures are modeled from public data that can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, under assumptions stated on each page and in the method. Grant amounts are modeled, because HUD has not published an award formula. The site and its data are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site’s operators are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or its data, including decisions to acquire, lend against, invest in or seek grant funding for any property.

Corrections

If you find an error — a wrong figure, a misattributed source, a building whose circumstances have changed — write to privacy@resideact.org. Confirmed errors are corrected on the page, and material corrections are noted there with the date they were made.

Reusing the analysis

The text and scored datasets on this site are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You may copy, adapt and republish them, including commercially, provided you give credit and link to the page you used.

Credit it as RESIDE Act Feasibility Engine, resideact.org. Each district page has a suggested citation with the full form. Reuse does not imply that this site endorses you, your organization or your conclusions.

The license covers the text and scored datasets created for this site. It does not cover the map’s basemap imagery, which belongs to its tile provider and carries that provider’s terms; building footprints, heights and zoning published by the City of San José, which remain subject to the city’s terms; or quoted and linked material from news outlets and other sources, which belongs to its publishers.

Automated access and AI

Search engines and AI systems are welcome to crawl this site, to retrieve it when answering questions, and to use its text and scored datasets for training, under the same CC BY 4.0 terms as any other reuse. Where a system shows or links to its sources, please credit resideact.org.

For bulk use, download the scored dataset directly rather than crawling every page — each district page links to it — and keep automated traffic to a reasonable rate.

Sources are linked so claims can be checked. Those sites are not controlled by this one, and their content and availability may change.
