The short version

This site has no accounts, no forms and no advertising, and it sets no cookies. It counts page views in aggregate and does not identify you.

Page-view counts

Visits are counted with a privacy-focused analytics service. It does not set cookies or use your browser’s local storage. Each visit is associated with a hash derived from the incoming request, and that hash is discarded after 24 hours, so the same visitor cannot be recognised from one day to the next or followed to other sites.

What is recorded is the page viewed, the site that linked to it, and coarse information about device type, browser, operating system and country. It is reported only as totals.

Hosting

The site’s hosting provider necessarily processes standard request information — IP address, browser user agent and the address requested — to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. This site does not use that information to identify visitors.

The hosting and analytics providers may process this request information in the United States.

The interactive map

The interactive map’s street basemap comes from a third-party map tile provider. When the map is on screen, your browser requests those tiles directly from that provider, which receives your IP address as part of the request. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.

The published dataset

The scored dataset available for download describes commercial buildings, not people. It is built from public City of San José records — building footprints, heights, zoning and street addresses — and contains no personal information. Downloading it is counted as a page view like any other and records nothing more.

What this site does not do

It does not sell or share data, show advertising, track you across other sites, run email lists, or ask for any personal information.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because this site does not track visitors across other sites, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change how it behaves: there is no cross-site tracking for them to switch off.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Questions and requests

Because the site keeps no personal information tied to an individual, there is usually nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have a question about this policy or a request anyway, write to privacy@resideact.org.

Changes

If this changes — for example, if a feature is added that stores anything about you — this page will be updated first, with a new date at the top.
